Irish Sign Language Interpreting (ISL) Video Production Ireland
Irish Sign Language Interpreting (ISL) Video Production Ireland | Making your Video Accessible to Deaf and Hard of Hearing Communities across Ireland.
Lensmen specialises in Irish sign language video production. We also create accessibility videos to show people with disabilities how to use government services.
The sound is always recorded during the production of an Irish Sign Language (ISL) video for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing. The voice-over and subtitles are added after the video has been edited. It’s very important that the voice-over is synchronised with the signing.
We added the voice-over so that people who do not know Irish sign language can watch the video; it is essential that the voice-over sounds natural and is easy to listen to.
We have professional video and photography equipment here in our office, and we can shoot the video on a white or green background for Irish Sign Language Video Production. We have a full post-editing department to manage the video editing process.
Why should I include Irish Sign Language Interpreting (ISL) Video Production Ireland in my next project?
The Irish Sign Language Act 2017 was signed into law on 24 December 2017 and commenced on 23 December 2020. The act provides recognition of Irish Sign Language (ISL), its use in legal proceedings, the allocation of interpretation of ISL by public bodies, and any related matters.
Even though this act commenced nearly a year ago, public bodies still lack ISL interpretation. Yes, we see interpreters at press calls, but there is a lack of sign interpretation for videos used within the government and other public bodies.
ISL is the native and third official language of Ireland. It is culturally important as it is the indigenous language of the deaf community. It is unique as it isn’t just made up of hand movements but full languages with specific linguistics, grammar, hand, face, and body movements. The Irish Deaf Society has researched approximately 40,000 people using ISL in their daily lives, and 5,000 of them use ISL as their first and native language.
What can we do to help? One of the first steps to making our country more inclusive is including an additional sign language interpreter.
Here at Lensmen Visuals, we are fully equipped to shoot interpretation videos. Working with Bridge Interpreters, our experienced staff can shoot in the studio or on location. We include a teleprompter set-up and deliver recordings same-day. All our videos are recorded in HD and 4K.
