Lensmen’s 67 Years in Business this Month
Even though the cameras, technology and culture have changed since the 1950s, The Lensmen team are still hard at work in the media business. Since our founding in 1952 by Andrew Farren and Padraig MacBrian, Lensmen has covered political events, religious events, GAA finals PR events and press photography. From 1952 to -1995, Lensmen accumulated over 40 million negatives! Many of these photographs have significant historical value; they include images of The Rolling Stones, The Beatles, Brendan Behan, President Kennedy, and Presidential Inaugurations. You can view a range of these photographs on our sister site, Irish Photo Archive
In 1995, when both founders retired, our current managing director, Susan Kennedy, took over Lensmen. As the company’s media needs to be changed to include video and photography for online use, Susan ensured Lensmen moved with the times and expanded to include a video and drone department. We also create time-lapses for construction companies, fit-outs and one-off day time-lapses.
We couldn’t achieve excellent work without our wonderful team behind the camera!
