A team of 5 students from B.Sc in International Hospitality Management, representing Dublin Institute of Technology, was selected as the outright winner of the 31st Irish Hospitality Institute (IHI) National Hospitality Business Management Game 2016, in association with our new sponsor for 2016, The Doyle Collection at The Croke Park Hotel with the winning team prize sponsored by Ambassade de France en Irlande and Classic Drinks Ltd.
 
The winning team scored top marks in the competition, attracting seven teams representing young future hospitality managers from all over Ireland. The 31st IHI National Hospitality Business Management Game, which took place in The Croke Park Hotel, Dublin, is also supported by Irish Hotels Federation, HOTS, and Forás na Gaeilge.

At the presentation of the awards, Captain Conor Bartley, on behalf of other members Shane Browne, Paul Fitzsimons, Caroline McDevitt and Katie Scanlan, spoke of the team’s delight in winning the overall new prize, which is an invitation to the Ambassade de France Residence in Dublin where the winning team will be treated to a private tuition on the famous wine of Domaine Laroche for the wine region of Chablis presented by none other than Anne Roque, internationally renowned sommelier with Domaine Laroche Wines. In addition, the winning team will be flown out to Domaine Laroche to experience the workings of the vineyards and winery.

The Awards and Certificates were presented by IHI President Martin Mangan MIHI, Mr Philippe Ray – Deputy Head of Mission on behalf of the Ambassador His Excellency, Jean-Pierre Thébault, and Hugh Murray TIHI, Managing Director of Classic Drinks Ltd.

Now celebrating its 50th anniversary, The Irish Hospitality Institute was founded in 1966 as the professional body for hotel, catering and tourism managers to promote professional development and standards among its membership and hospitality industry.
