Shane Jennings is a familiar figure to all Irish rugby fans, and especially Leinster fans. He was capped 13 times for Ireland, and made over 200 appearances for Leinster throughout his playing career. Jennings announced his retirement from the sport this year, citing recurrent knee injuries as the driving force behind his decision.
Perhaps the only people happy to hear this news (apart from non-Leinster rugby fans) were Sherry Fitzgerald, who had their own ideas about Jennings future career. Watch our video of
Jennings had participated in a work placement with Sherry Fitzgerald during his international rugby career, an initiative organized by the Irish Rugby Union Players’ Association (IRUPA). The work placements help rugby players prepare themselves for life after their playing career ends, as it inevitably must. It can be difficult for professional athletes adjust to the more mundane requirements of a 9-5 job, but IRUPA try to soften the landing for their members as much as possible.
Jennings himself was realistic about life after rugby, and grabbed the chance to take part in the work placement with Sherry Fitzgerald on his days off from his obligations to the team. He also completed an MBA in Business Studies while playing professionally. So when it came to taking the first step away from the rugby fraternity, Sherry Fitzgerald were happy to help Jennings get his footing in a new career.
The newest Business Development Executive with Sherry Fitzgerald Countrywide will get started in November. No doubt Jennings will be as successful in his new career, and hopefully won’t have to deal with too many customers setting up fake appointments with him just so they can get his autograph or a quick selfie with their hero! Lensmen Photography, Video & Time-lapse would like to take this opportunity to wish Shane the best in his latest endeavour, and we hope the conversion to corporate life goes smoothly for him!
