Lensmen are a Public Relations Photographer, Dublin Ireland, and one of the longest running agency’s in Dublin.
We were thrilled to be a part of the opening night of Fornocht Do Chonac – Naked I Saw You, by Eoghan Ó Tuairisc and were delighted to work with the Abbey Theatre again. A truly enjoyable play, and great cast who were more than happy to pose, interact and enjoy the event.
‘Fornocht do Chonac’ is the title of a famous poem by 1916 revolutionary Patrick Pearse in which he beholds a vision for a new Ireland, and also foresees his road to certain death. It is a visionary poem about noble self-sacrifice for Ireland. The Irish language reigns strongly at Lensmen HQ, with our very own Sean Walsh (Director of Photography) being fluent in Gaeilge.
We are a close knit team and that specialises in Photography for Press Events and Opening Nights. Please call us on 01 8197738 or send us mail info@lensmen.ie

The Abbey Theatre presents Fornocht Do Chonac – Naked I Saw You by Eoghan Ó Tuairisc. A multimedia production from An Taibhdhearc about Patrick Pearse, it will be performed in Irish with English subtitles on the Peacock stage from 9 – 12 November.
In Fornocht Do Chonac – Naked I Saw You, an artist called Pearse hides out in a graveyard on the coast, anguished and half-crazy, as he deals with his demons. What happens when a young woman comes calling and makes him an offer he can’t refuse? Will he use his talents to create or to destroy?
Patrick Pearse founded St Enda’s Gaelic School in 1908 and then went on to become one of the main leaders of the 1916 Rising. His passion for a free and Gaelic Ireland was undoubted: but did his vision glorify bloodshed? These are some of the questions asked in the play about the influence of Pádraig Mac Piarais.
Graham McLaren said ‘We are happy to welcome An Taibhdhearc to the Abbey Theatre with Fornocht Do Chonac and to bring Irish language work to our audience.’
Eoghan Ó Tuairisc was a well-known playwright and poet in the 1970s. Fornocht Do Chonac was first performed in 1979 and is a scathing look at Irish society, still relevant today.

‘Fornocht do Chonac’ is teideal do dhán clúiteach le Pádraig Mac Piarais mar a ndéanann sé tuar agus tairngreacht ar Éirinn nua, agus ar a chinniúnt bhocht féin. Sa dráma seo, téann ealaíontóir darb ainm Piaras i bhfolach i reilig in aice na farraige, é céasta agus cráite ag streachailt le pian anama. Cad a tharlóidh nuair a thiocfaidh bean óg chuige agus tairiscint aici nach féidir diúltú di? An mbainfidh Piaras úsáid as a bhua chun rudaí a chruthú nó a scrios?
Is í aisling sin Mhic Phiarais faoin bhféiníobairt ar son na hÉireann, ‘Fornocht do Chonac’, a spreag teideal an dráma seo le hEoghan Ó Tuairisc, drámadóir agus file mor lé rá ag bhí ag saothrú a cheirde le linn na 1970í. Léiríodh an drama an chéaduair sa bhliain 1979 agus is amharc fíochmhar ar shochaí na hÉireann é atá chomh tráthúil céanna sa lá atá inniu inniu ann.
