Lensmen Photography & Video have been sharing some of our time-lapse videos with you on this blog recently, and we hope you have been enjoying them too. One of the things that attracts most people’s attention on the videos shot outdoors is the constant shapeshifting of the clouds overhead. It can be fascinating to watch them undulating across the sky. Even if it appeared like a dull, overcast day on the ground, on video, the movements within the clouds become very evident.

One photographer took this phenomenon to the extreme when he decided to create time-lapse videos of tornados and storms forming in Nebraska, US. Ryan McGinnis is a ‘storm chaser’, making a name for himself by taking photographs of any large storms within his state. McGinnis decided to extend his range by introducing time-lapse into his routine – and thereby becoming a ‘storm-lapse artist’.
